unit 30 task 2 p2

Task 2-

Graphic type
How the graphic is constructed and why you chose the graphic type?
How will the final file be saved?
Internet Graphic
Bitmap
A bitmap graphic is constructed by a lot of little squares of colour called pixels. This makes it easier to edit the graphic because each and every pixel can be edited. However when the image gets enlarged, the graphic will lose its quality.
JPEG
PNG
GIF
TIFF
Van Sign Graphic
Vector
When a vector graphic is created it’s done in graphic packages which are made up purely of objects. Each object can also be edited individually but when the image is enlarged the image does not lose quality or get distorted.
EPS
AI
PDF
Brochure Graphic
Either bitmap or vector
The images on the brochure would normally be small and will not have to be enlarged. However, using a vector graphic type means that if by any reason the images were to be enlarged they wouldn’t lose quality.

Unit 30 Task1 M1

There is bound to be at least one restriction of any hardware and software. This doesn't mean it’s not a good product, it just means that it has room to improve.

The iMac has limitations that are hard to avoid. One of these limitations is the software that it uses and the other being its cost. Most computers systems are PCs which normally use a Windows operating system meaning that most games and many other software products are designed to work with Windows. If the user of an iMac wants to use these programs, they will have to buy and install Windows on their iMac and alternate between operating systems. This then adds to the already large expenses. IMacs like most Apple computers, are already more expensive than the PC’s corresponding parts. The iMac costs a hefty amount to use because parts are not easily replaced by the user and the extended warranty that Apple has is more expensive than any other.

A major restriction of the multi-function printer is definitely cost. Not only does it cost a lot for the product itself, the replacement ink cartridges cost a lot too. The colour cartridges are more expensive than the black ones totalling at £198.94 for a pack of four colour toner cartridges. If it’s going to be mostly graphic images that are going to be passed through and printed off this piece of equipment then it is bound to use a lot of these cartridges.
Even though Adobe Photoshop is an excellent programme for creating graphics even this software has drawbacks. One of the disadvantages of using Adobe Photoshop is again its price. Another restriction is that even though it is relatively simple to use, the program is not designed for beginners. It is mainly a photo-editing program for people with experience that plan on editing photos on a regular basis. It has advanced functionality that will be useless for most people who are unfamiliar with editing photos.

Some designer might prefer or need to use Illustrator instead of Photoshop. Inevitably Illustrator has disadvantages too. One of these restrictions being that it may require a reasonable amount of skill or training just like Photoshop. The other limitation of the software is that in order to create photo realistic drawings the user of the software must have a lot of time and patience in order to pick up on the tiny detailed parts of the graphic. Again I believe that it is a software for people who plan on editing photos on a regular basis.

When it comes to the Digital camera that I suggested, even though the technical features of it is spectacular the drawback of it is the lack of weather proofing. If the user of this camera wished to take their photographs outside in bad weather, the camera may be in danger of getting damaged which will then cost to get it fixed. Another slight disadvantage of the camera is the inability to attach a battery clip.

There is a major limitation of the graphics tablet that I previously suggested and that is the software that it comes with. The software is in fact just a 15 day trial which users don’t get told until they have to find out themselves. Which means the user will have to pay around £130 for the best software that is suitable for the tablet and also links with Photoshop.
The disadvantage of the Epson Powerlite projector is a thing called heat dissipation. This means that if not mounted to the roof, the projector needs sufficient space around it for its hot air to be released. If this is not provided to the projector there is danger of it either breaking or getting damaged in the process. However the people buying the projector in this price range generally do not want to suffer the added expense of mounting it onto the ceiling if they can avoid it.
